| Chicago New Construction Layouts
Obviously, homes vary widely from construction to construction.
Still, every property has several fundamental features. Kitchens,
living rooms, bathrooms, and bedrooms: all of these are requirements
for even the most basic dwelling. One characteristic that
sets apart Chicago new constructions from houses of days past
is openness. Space with creative, open layouts, gives the
illusion of a residential property being built on a grand
scale. Contemporary ground levels have replaced doors and
narrow corridors with flowing, organic spaces. Such stylistic
devices are especially important in downtown Chicago, where
square footage tends to be less abundant.
With the focus of Chicago new constructions shifting to utility,
kitchens now often come with a built-in, informal dining area.
This reflects the fact that modern families are less interested
in formality and more interested in practicality. Similarly,
family rooms are designed to be more open, often featuring
huge windows (especially when the view is sweeping and | or
panoramic). Another contemporary trend has moved the master
bedroom to the ground floor, where elderly homeowners can
avoid traversing potentially dangerous stairwells. Of course,
it is still acceptable to put the master bedroom on the second
floor if you want to be more removed from the house activity.
The second floor is usually reserved for extra bedrooms,
whether they are for children or for guests. More recently,
it has also been the location of choice for home offices,
which are becoming increasingly popular. The distance of the
office from the main activity of the house often lends itself
to a quiet area good for contemplation, reading, and other
work. Some families even opt to create more than one office,
especially if they are interested in having a conjoined study
space | computer area for their children.
Obviously, the upstairs area will also house a number of
bathrooms. While contemporary designs devote a significant
amount of space to bathrooms, it certainly seems as if they
are in high demand. Special amenities such as oversized bathtubs,
customized cabinetry, and other luxury appointments have given
bathrooms a special niche within the industry. In fact, many
interior designers now specialize exclusively in bathroom
design.
Perhaps more intriguing is the relatively new presence of
customized rooms in Chicago new constructions. Such rooms
use a creative approach to improve the homeowner’s quality
of life. For instance, a family that values recreation might
benefit from a romper room. A more studious family might enjoy
a wood paneled library. Fitness freaks might opt for a gym
with high ceilings. The possibilities are virtually endless.
